Margaret L. DeGenova, 84, of Colonia, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, July 25, 2019.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Visitation at the Walter Johnson Funeral Home, 803 Raritan Rd., Clark, on Sunday, July 28 from 5 - 9 pm. The Funeral Service will be Monday at the Funeral Home at 10:00 am. Entombment will follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.

Mrs. DeGenova was born in Jersey City to Thomas Charles and Margaret (Casiez) Ash. She lived in North Bergen, prior to moving to Colonia 56 years ago. When first moving to Colonia, she taught CCD at St. John Vianney for several years and became a Girl Scout Leader for approximately 5 years. She was a member of the St. John Vianney Senior Citizen’s Club in the last couple of years before she became ill. She was also a chaperone and volunteer for the Avenel Firelites and the Bayonne Bridgemen Drum and Bugle Corps.

Mrs. Genova was an Administrative Assistant at L'Oreal of Clark for 10 years and prior to that she was an Operations Manager for Stern Department Store of Bridgewater for 10 years.

Mrs. DeGenova was an avid reader and fan of the New York Giants (loved going to games with family). She enjoyed bingo and frequent trips to Atlantic City with her best friend of over 50 years, Pauline Staufenberger.

Mrs. DeGenova was predeceased by her beloved husband Louis DeGenova, her brother Charles Ash and her nephew Michael Ash. She is survived by her devoted children, Robert DeGenova and his wife Glenna and Patricia DaCosta and her husband Daniel; her cherished grandchildren, Marissa DaCosta, Sarah Ackerman and her husband Kendal Ackerman, Hannah DeGenova and her husband Jeremy Reich; her brother James Ash; her loving nieces, Debra Kendall, Christine Batchelder and Marie Gorski; her great niece Kelley Fontanella; her great nephew Frank Batchelder; her godchild Donna Kornberger and many other nieces, nephews great nieces and great nephews.
