Obituary

Philip Leon Fink, 69, of Clark, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, June 5, 2019.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Visitation at the Walter Johnson Funeral Home, 803 Raritan Rd., Clark, on Sunday, June 9 from 2 - 6 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday at the Funeral Home at 11:00 am. Entombment will follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.

Philip was born in Elizabeth to Joel and Alice (Silverblatt) Fink on June 21, 1949. He lived in Colonia, Garwood and Rahway, before moving to Clark 11 years ago.

Philip retired from Royal Foods of Carteret after 10 years of service.

Philip loved baseball and was a huge Yankee fan. His passion was softball, which he played for over 45 years gaining him the nickname “Phil the Thrill” by his team members. He supported his son Michael in all the sports he played: baseball, football and rugby and tried never to miss a chance to see him play.

Phil along with his brother-in-law Richie, who played in many of the same softball leagues, were instrumental in starting “The Mothers” in the Woodbridge softball league. Phil played in the Westfield Sunday softball league, the Elizabeth, Linden and Rahway softball leagues and most recently on the Union County Senior’s League. Just to name a few of the softball teams are the Rahway League, Bedrock Bombers, Waiting Room, Hubie’s Exxon, Associated Auto Parts, Linda’s Driftwood I and lastly the Avengers.

Philip is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Karen (Krov) Fink; his devoted son Michael Philip Fink; his cherished grandsons, Dylan James Fink and Gavin Joel Fink; his brother Gary Fink and many loving nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his cat Callie.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
