Michael Truss, 95, of Clark, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to the Funeral from the Walter Johnson Funeral Home, 803 Raritan Rd., Clark, on Monday, August 28 at 9:00 am, thence to the Church of the Good Shepherd, Rahway, where a Funeral Service will be offered at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in Rahway Cemetery, Rahway. Visiting hours will be on Sunday, from 2 - 6 pm.

Mr. Truss was born in New York to Ignatz and Sophie Truss. He honorably served his country in the Army Infantry during WWII in Europe. He received his BA from Pratt Institute and his MBA from Columbia University. He lived in Rahway, before moving to Clark 65 years ago to the home he proudly built and where he and his wife raised their family.

Mr. Truss was a Teacher of Arts for 35 years, first at Battin High School in Elizabeth, then Hanover Park High School and retiring from Whippany Park High School in 1982. He was an artist and photographer. In Clark he was a member of the American Legion Post #328, Civic Association, Shade Tree Commission and on the Board of Education for 20 years. He was also a member of the NJEA. He volunteered at his church to help maintain buildings, provide art work for any occasion and landscaping. Neighbors and friends knew they could always count on him to help with any odd job. He was a “Jack-of-all-trades and master of all”.

Mr. Truss was predeceased by his parents, 3 sisters, Olga (Kitty) Harris, Anne DiLollo and Mary Truss; daughter Patti Ann Brown and granddaughter, Meghan Young Skarka. He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Betty Truss; his devoted children, Linda Young and her husband Jeffrey, Sherry Truss, Darlene Zito and her husband Philip and Michael S. Truss; his cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth, Alex and Eric; great grandchildren, Avery, Alexandra (Lexie), Gianluca and Benjamin; his brother-in-law, Conrad DiLollo; many caring nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
