In the early morning hours of June 9 2019, Benedict (Ben) Joseph Shedlock, passed away peacefully in his sleep. Ben was 92 years young.

Ben was born on April 16th in 1927, in Duryea Pennsylvania to Francis and Joseph Shedlock (both diseased). He was preceded in death by his brothers Joseph and John Shedlock, his wife Grace Shedlock, and daughter Diane Shedlock-Perrin. He is survived by his son Mark and wife Pamela Shedlock, grandchildren Emily Shedlock and fiancé Dr. Daniel Asen, Drs. Bryce and Shelia Shedlock and Douglas Perrin, and his great grandchildren Stella, Naida and William “Wolf” Shedlock. Ben is also survived by his two sisters Alice and Lucille.

After earning a business degree in Scranton Pennsylvania, he moved to Maplewood New Jersey where he met the love of his life Grace and the amazing De Ieso family who provided a balance in his life. He and his family bought a home in Colonia New Jersey and he lived there for over 60 years before moving to Pittsgrove New Jersey with his son and daughter in law.

Ben worked for over 30 years in the electrical field starting his own business TECH ELEC. Through his business he prepared of candidates for the New Jersey Electrical Contractors examination. Over the last 30 plus years he has successfully trained hundreds of candidate for this examination, as well as providing them with the continuing training to maintain these licenses. These became the men and women known throughout the industry as “Ben’s boys and girls”. These friends represent the proudest moments of his professional life.

If you wanted to make Ben beam, just ask him about his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will tell you endless stories and show you endless pictures of them. Along the way he became acquainted with two young men, Dustin and Tyler Melnicove, who he mentored and told life stories to. The smile always returned to his face when they too called him GP (Grand Pa).

Although he is now gone, he will live in our hearts through our memoires of him and the stories he told. After all, they are the interactions and stories created with all those listed above.

The family request that in lieu of flowers please make donation, in the name of Benedict, to Shriners Hospital, St. Jude’s or the SmileTrain
