Paul Marczak entered into eternal rest surrounded by his loving family at home on October 24, 2019.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visitation on Sunday, October 27th from 2-6 pm at the Walter Johnson Funeral Home. On Monday, October 28th at 10:00 am, the Funeral will begin at the Funeral Home and process to St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, Linden, where a Funeral Mass will be offered at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia.

Paul was born in Jaśliska, Poland on January 10, 1926 to Joseph and Tekla Marczak. He was the fourth child of eight siblings. At the age of 16, he was captured by German soldiers during the invasion of Poland and was placed in a labor camp for three years, never to see his parents again. After the war, his older siblings (who were already residing in the United States), were able to send for him.
Paul met his beloved wife of nearly 65 years, Diane, in night school learning to speak English. He resided in Elizabeth, and then Linden for more than 50 years.

Paul retired in 1993 after working as a Tailor for his whole career, most recently at Vantage Custom Classics in Linden. He was a parishioner and usher at St. Theresa Church in Linden, and a member of the Polish National Alliance, Old Guard, and Linden Senior Citizens Club. His favorite things do to included going dancing with his wife, watching wrestling with his brothers, watching soccer (in any language on tv), and spending quality time with his family.

Paul is survived by his devoted children Irene Barist and husband Douglas, and Joseph Marczak and girlfriend Lauren Hill; his loving grandchildren Kelly Winters and husband Dennis, and Scott Barist and wife Danielle; the light of his life in later years, his great-grandsons Grayson Paul Winters and Jackson Dennis Winters and many dear nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by the love of his life, wife Diane (March 2018); all seven of his siblings: brothers, Walter, Edward, Henry, Stanley, and Leonard Marczak, sisters, Wanda Midura and Josephine Cymerman and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Wanda and Joseph Gurski.

His family has (and will always have) an immeasurable amount of love for him and will miss him dearly. We are in awe of everything he had to overcome in his early years, and grateful of his full life that followed. He was the purest, kindest soul any of us have ever known, and we are better people to have had him and his love in our lives. We are comforted by the fact that he is now reunited with his beloved wife who was his world. We believe they are now dancing together again.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
