Steven was raised in Penns Grove, and graduated from the University of Delaware with a BA in Psychology and Sociology. He graduated from Simmons Institute of Mortuary Science in Syracuse, New York in 1978. He worked at his Uncle’s funeral home as an intern and then as a licensed Funeral Director. Steven purchased Sullivan Funeral Home in Roselle in 1981, Walter J. Johnson Funeral Home in Clark in 1997, Werson Funeral Home in 2018 and is the Manager of all them. He is a member of the New Jersey State Funeral Director’s Association and the National Funeral Director’s Association. He is a member of the FMBA and an Honorary Life Member of the PBA in Roselle. He was a Former Commissioner of the Roselle Board of Health for 12 years. He was a Past President and Former Board Member of the Roselle Senior Citizens Housing Association for 16 years. He was a Past President of Roselle Recreation, a Past President of the Roselle Boy’s League, and a Past President of Roselle Catholic High School Men’s Association. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #3946 in Roselle, where he also served as Grand Knight for 2 terms. He is also a Fourth Degree Knight in the Gilmary Shea Assembly. He was a Past President and member of the Advisory Board of the Church of St. Joseph the Carpenter and a Past President of the Church of St. Joseph the Carpenter Parish Council. Steven is also a member of the Union Elks, the Gran Centurions in Clark, the Deutscher Club in Clark and the Kiwanis Club in Clark. He is a communicant of St. Agnes Church in Clark and a member of their Holy Name Society. Steven lived in Clark since 2001 with his wife Lynette. They have two sons, James and Matthew, and both are licensed Funeral Directors. He enjoys spending time with his new grandson Nicholas.
Matthew was raised in Roselle, and graduated from Roselle Catholic High School in 2005. He attended Centenary College in Hackettstown . He attended the American Academy of McAllister Institute of Funeral Services in Manhattan where he graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2007. He also received other honors, including the Dr. John McAllister Award, the Silvio J. Failla Award from the Hudson County Funeral Director’s Association and the New York State Funeral Director’s Award of Merit. He was also inducted into the Mu Sigma Alpha Society. After completing his internship he became a licensed Funeral Director in 2008 and is a member of the New Jersey State Funeral Director’s Association. Matthew has lived in Clark since 2001 and now has his own home in Clark with his wife Daria and their two children Nicholas and Victoria. He enjoys spending time with his family, gardening, fishing, golfing and watching baseball.
Stephen was raised in Linden, and graduated from Linden High School in 1990. He attended Kean College in Union, and graduated from American Academy of McAllister Institute of Funeral Services in Manhattan in 1995. After completing his internship at Werson Funeral Home he became a licensed Funeral Director in 1996. He has been a dedicated employee of Werson Funeral Home since 1995. He is a member of the New Jersey State Funeral Director’s Association. He lives in Colonia with his wife and two daughters. He likes spending time in the outdoors.
